Introduction
Chime ("the App") is a macOS menu bar application designed to help
you never miss another meeting. This Privacy Policy explains how we
collect, use, and protect your information.
Our Commitment: Your calendar data stays on your Mac.
We never upload your meeting titles, attendee names, locations, or
any personal calendar information to our servers.
Information We Collect
1. Calendar and Reminder Data (Stored Locally Only)
To provide meeting alerts, the App accesses and stores the following
data locally on your Mac:
- Event titles and descriptions
- Meeting start and end times
- Location information
- Meeting URLs (for auto-joining features)
- Attendee names and count
- Organizer information
- Calendar names
- Recurring meeting patterns
- Custom alert settings per meeting
Important: This data is stored in a local database
on your Mac and is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
2. Usage Analytics (Optional)
We use PostHog, a product analytics platform, to understand how the
App is used and improve its functionality. You can opt out of
analytics during onboarding or anytime in Settings.
When analytics are enabled, we collect:
Essential Data (Always Collected):
- App Health: App launch, background/foreground events, and error reports
- Core Functionality: Alert delivery events (timing and type) to ensure reliability
- Technical Info: App version, Platform (macOS), Anonymous session ID, Days since installation
- Aggregated Stats: Subscription status, Total alerts delivered, Total meetings joined
Detailed Usage Data (Optional):
- Feature Usage: Which features you use and how often
- Meeting Details: Platform type (Zoom/Teams) for join events
- Settings: Specific configuration changes
What We Do NOT Collect:
- Your meeting titles or content
- Attendee names or contact information
- Meeting locations or notes
- Your identity or Apple ID
- Your IP address (not stored or tracked)
- Any personally identifiable information
3. Purchase Information
When you purchase a subscription or lifetime license:
- Apple processes all payments through the App Store

- All payment data is handled securely by Apple
4. Trial Information
To manage the free trial period:
- First launch timestamp (stored locally)
- Trial validation checksum (anti-tampering measure)

- Display upcoming meetings in the menu bar
- Schedule and deliver timely alerts before meetings
- Extract and auto-launch meeting URLs

- Provide snooze and alert customization features
Analytics Data (If Enabled)
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Understand which features are most valuable
- Identify and fix bugs
- Measure trial conversion and subscription retention

Purchase Data

Local Storage
- Calendar data is stored in a local SQLite database
in your Mac's app container (

Your Rights
- Access: All your data is stored locally and accessible
to you
- Deletion: Uninstalling the App deletes all local data
- Opt-Out: Disable analytics to stop all data transmission
- Portability: Your calendar data remains in Apple Calendar
Permissions We Request
The App requires the following macOS permissions:
- Calendar Access - To read your meetings and schedule
alerts
- Reminders Access - To support reminder-based alerts
(optional)
- Notifications - To display meeting alerts
- Network Access - Only for analytics (if enabled) and
App Store purchases
We do not request access to:
- Location services
- Microphone or camera
- Contacts or address book
- Photos or files
- Health data
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children. If you believe a child
has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Data Retention
- Local calendar data: Stored indefinitely until you
delete the App or clear data
- Analytics data: Retained according to PostHog's retention
policy
- Purchase records: Retained by Apple indefinitely for
subscription management
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify
you of material changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

Displaying a notification in the App (for significant changes)
- Requiring re-acceptance during major updates
Your continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of
the updated policy.
Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party meeting platforms (Zoom,
Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, etc.). We are not responsible for the
privacy practices of these services. Please review their privacy
